Chicago/Turabian citations have two elements: The footnote and the bibliography. Footnotes are represented by numbers in the text which then correspond to the number at the bottom of the page¹. They are often shorter and change² if you re-use the citation. The bibliography is the more complete citation at the end of the paper.
